Emergency Child Care First Aid with CPR/AED Level B

Course Information

The course teaches lifesaving first aid skills. It includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) use. The training focuses on helping children and babies.

The course meets safety requirements for early childhood educators. It also meets safety rules for daycare workers in provinces and territories.

Prerequisite: None

This course covers the following topics:

  • Responding to Emergencies
  • The EMS system
  • Check, Call, Care
  • Choking
  • Breathing and Circulation emergencies
  • CPR and AED
  • Wound care
  • Head, Neck and Spinal Injuries
  • Bone, Muscle, and Joint Injuries
  • Sudden Medical Emergencies
  • Environmental Illness
  • Poisons
  • Caring for Children

After successful completion of the course, each participant will receive a 3 year Emergency Child Care First Aid with CPR/AED Level B certification from the Canadian Red Cross.
