Meet Our People

With Primary Care First Aid, you’ll be getting first aid instruction from experienced fire firefighter personnel with real-life experience. Our instructors pass on what it’s actually like applying first aid in emergency situations. This makes for an extremely high success rate inside and outside the classroom.
We’ve taught students from a wide variety of occupations, and we tailor each class to those specific jobs. Our fun and engaging classes make learning first aid easy, and we give students the confidence to step in and help someone when it matters most.

Scott Dineen, owner and head instructor of Primary Care First Aid Inc. is a full-time Professional Firefighter and First Responder Instructor Trainer. Within the Fire Department, Scott is also a Confined Space and High Angle Rope Rescue Instructor for its Technical Rescue Team. Outside the firehall Scott works as a Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor Trainer and has a vast background in teaching first aid to the general public and also training new Canadian Red Cross Instructors.

Trevor Hamaguchi
Trevor grew up in Richmond, BC. From an early age he was involved in many sports, ultimately choosing to stick with hockey. After his journey in hockey ended he enrolled at UBC to pursue an education in kinesiology. Currently Trevor works as a full-time firefighter and continues to maintain an active lifestyle.

Erin Moore-Dempsey
Erin is a First Aid and CPR instructor for Primary Care First Aid and also a Youth Leader. Prior to becoming a professional firefighter she was a volunteer firefighter in Sun Peaks, travelled the globe as a whitewater raft guide, and worked for BC Ambulance. These days when she's not working she can be found outdoors in the mountains, at a lake or at a beach with her family.
Nick Cirillo
First Aid and CPR Instructor
Nick Cirillo is a career firefighter with a strong background in education. He has completed a Bachelors degree in Physical education and coaching and has been involved with first aid since he was a teenager when he became a lifeguard. Nick has also participated in many volunteering initiatives such as opioid outreach and frontline support on the DTES, Special Olympics Swim program and coaching minor lacrosse. Outside of work hours Nick enjoys staying active by hitting up the gym as well as getting outside for hikes or hopping into a lake for a swim.
Stacey Schouten

Stacey has over 15 years of experience in emergency services. Currently she is a full-time Firefighter and instructor for Primary Care First Aid. Prior to Firefighting, Stacey was a 9-1-1 Dispatcher and held various coordinator positions for several non-profit organizations in the lower mainland. She has a passion for the outdoors and completed her diploma in Outdoor Recreation Management at Capilano University. When not at work, Stacey spends as much time as she can camping, hiking, swimming and being outside with her family.
Ryan Chandra

Ryan Chandra is a local resident who grew up in Burnaby BC. Growing up, Ryan was involved in numerous sport competitions and teams which he always found great joy and fulfillment which he still continues to participate in. Ryan enjoys volunteering his time with many organizations such as coaching soccer, St John Ambulance and the Canucks Autism Network. During his down time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, getting out in the beautiful outdoors, and of course, solving his rubix cube!
JT Hill

JT has over 10 years of experience in emergency services. Currently a full-time firefighter and instructor for Primary Care First Aid, he has also worked as a paramedic with B.C. ambulance. Within the fire department he teaches a variety of courses and is a peer support member advocating for mental health. When JT is not working, he loves spending time outdoors with his family and two dogs.
James Beeby

James is a First Aid and CPR instructor and brings with him 20 plus years of hands on experience as a professional firefighter. He is a FR Instructor on the job and has been involved in numerous other disciplines ranging from High Angle Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue and Hazmat Technician. He has been an instructor at the Justice Institute of British Columbia teaching Emergency Vehicle Operations and Professional Driving Practices. When he is not at work, James enjoys time with family and friends. He has been involved in sports his entire life and continues to maintain his active lifestyle.

Danny Baker
Danny Baker is a full time firefighter with a flare for teaching. He has always wanted to pass on his vast knowledge of first aid and now there’s someone who will listen. Danny has worked with many different first aid organizations and continues to expand his skills. Danny’s love of teaching is right behind his love of unicorns, lollipops and hugs.
Chris Vanderwel

Chris, instructor for Primary Care First Aid, is a full-time Professional Firefighter. His diverse background includes carpenter and first aid attendant for residential construction, ambulance attendant, sports competition first aid attendant, and coach for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Through his work at the Fire Department, Chris has additional training in peer support and mental health first aid. These experiences have helped Chris to develop a passion for helping people feel confident performing first aid.
Marvin Ison
First Aid and CPR Instructor
Marvin is a First Aid and CPR instructor for Primary Care First Aid. Since 2009, he's been a Professional Firefighter, where he is an Emergency Vehicle Operator Instructor and a member of the Peer Support team. Outside of the job, he is a father of 3 and spends time coaching and cheering on his kids in their community sports. Previous to firefighting, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from UBC and taught english in Japan for several years.
Vanessa Hilton

Originally from Saskatchewan, Vanessa Hilton completed her Fire and Paramedic training at Manitoba Emergency Services College in Brandon, Manitoba. After completion of her diploma, she made the move out West. She is now working as a full time career firefighter in the Lower Mainland. With a passion for the medical side of her job and a love for teaching, Vanessa became a First Aid Instructor, and Youth Leader, qualified to teach Standard First Aid (and other courses under The Red Cross Umbrella) The Babysitting Course and Stay Safe course.
Anita Kahlon

Anita is a Registered Nurse. She started off her career working in psychiatry and then transitioned into working in med/surg. She is currently working as a First Aid and CPR instructor with Primary Care First Aid and also works in a nursing aesthetics position! Outside of work, Anita enjoys being active, watching her favorite shows, and spending time with family and friends.
Kevin Bosch

Kevin Bosch is a dedicated career firefighter with a strong background in emergency services. Before transitioning to firefighting, he served as a paramedic with BCEHS, gaining invaluable frontline experience in high-pressure medical situations. His passion for teamwork and leadership extends beyond emergency response with being a former sports competitor and football coach, mentoring the next generation both on and off the field.
Evan Hodgson

I am a career firefighter for the City of Richmond. Prior to becoming a firefighter I was in the Royal Canadian Navy where I specialized in communications. I have a strong background in the development and mentoring of my peers as an instructor in several disciplines. I enjoy teaching first aid since it involves important practical skills that help keep everyone safer. In my free time I love to hike and ski.
