What is the Transportation Endorsement?

The WorkSafeBC Transportation Endorsement qualifies first aid attendants to transport injured workers. It covers patient packaging, spinal immobilization, and safe transport procedures.

Do I need a first aid certificate first?

Yes. You must hold a valid WorkSafeBC Basic First Aid or Intermediate First Aid certificate to enroll in the Transportation Endorsement course.

How long is the certificate valid?

The Transportation Endorsement is valid for the same period as your underlying first aid certificate.

Course Information

The WorkSafeBC Transportation Endorsement course is an 8 hour program focusing specifically on the transport of injured workers to medical aid. In order to participate in this training a candidate must hold a valid Basic First Aid (OFA Level 1) or Intermediate First Aid (OFA Level 2) certificate.

Full Course: $125

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant will receive a fully accredited 3-year Transportation Endorsement certificate (TE) through WorkSafeBC.

The course curriculum includes:

Patient packaging for transport include supine and lateral positioning for trauma, ¾ prone drainage and position of comfort. Review of patient assessment to an Basic First Aid (OFA Level 1) standard. Review of critical airway, breathing and circulatory intervention with C-Spine management. Use of Scoop Stretchers and Long Spine Boards.

Prerequisite: Basic First Aid (OFA Level 1) or Intermediate First Aid (OFA Level 2) certificate.
