Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C in Vancouver

Vancouver has one of the most active construction sectors in Canada. Thousands of workers commute daily on the SkyTrain and bus. Schools, daycares, gyms, film sets, restaurants, and emergencies can happen in any of them, at any time.

Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C in Vancouver gives you the skills to handle both life-threatening emergencies and serious injuries. It is the most complete first aid certification available for non-healthcare workers in BC. And unlike a basic one-day course, it prepares you for situations that are urgent but not immediately life-threatening.

Primary Care First Aid is a Canadian Red Cross Training Provider serving Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Our instructors are active firefighters and paramedics with 20+ years of training experience.

If you only need a one-day certification, see Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED Level C in Vancouver instead.

Hands-on training outcomes

What You Will Learn

This course goes well beyond basic emergency response. Every skill is taught through hands-on practice and realistic scenarios.

CPR and AED for All Ages

Learn CPR for adults, children, and infants, along with proper AED use. AEDs are now installed in SkyTrain stations, Vancouver community centres, offices, and schools across the city. Knowing how to use one quickly can mean the difference between life and death. Read more about CPR and AED training and CPR basics for parents.

Emergency Scene Assessment

Learn how to check for danger and act in the right order using the DRSABCD framework — the same structured approach used by first responders across Canada.

Airway and Breathing Emergencies

Respond to choking in all age groups, manage asthma attacks, and handle breathing difficulties. Techniques are taught for both conscious and unconscious victims.

Severe Bleeding and Shock

Control heavy bleeding using direct pressure and bandaging. Recognize early signs of shock and keep victims stable until paramedics arrive. These skills are grounded in the ABCs of first aid.

Injuries and Wound Care

Treat burns, cuts, fractures, sprains, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries. This is where Standard First Aid covers more ground than Emergency First Aid. You learn to manage injuries that need care right away, even when they are not immediately life-threatening. See: First Aid for Burn Injuries and First Aid for Common Injuries.

Medical and Environmental Emergencies

Recognize and respond to heart attacks, strokes, seizures, severe allergic reactions, heatstroke, hypothermia, and outdoor-risk emergencies. Learn the FAST acronym for stroke, use the AVPU scale, and review Hiking Safety Tips for Vancouver’s outdoor conditions.
